Roles and Permissions
Only Admins and Editors have access to link ideas.
The link ideas feature allows you to create a relationship between any given number of ideas.
There are two relationship types available:
- Duplicate: This option will merge ideas together, selecting a main one as the master idea and archiving the rest. You have the option to copy over data to the main idea if desired (Available fields to be copied over are Feedback, Designs, Documents, and User Stories.)
- Related: This option will link the ideas together, allowing you to navigate between them as needed.
In this document we will review:
Linking ideas from the ideas list
To link ideas from the ideas list, simply select the ideas you wish to link together. Once you do, click on the Link ideas button on the list menu.
When the slideout opens, select the relationship type.
If the relationship type is selected as Duplicate, the ideas shown on the linked ideas list will be marked as archived, but still available for you to see.
Once the process is completed, you will see a reference of all linked items under the Linked ideas tab within the idea canvas.
The relationship type will be highlighted within the list.
Linking ideas from the idea canvas
To link ideas from the idea canvas, click on the Add+ menu and select Linked ideas from the dropdown.
When the slideout opens, select the relationship type. Once the process is completed, you will see a reference of all linked items under the "Linked ideas" tab within the idea canvas.
If you need to link more ideas, click on the "Link to other ideas" button on the Linked ideas tab.
Linking ideas using Dotbot
DotBot pops up around the app to tell you when ideas and feedback might be connected. Just click on the bot to trigger the slide-out and see the results. You can then review any related ideas or feedback to group them together. Users also have the option to take any content from connected ideas, or to merge duplicates together. If an idea comes up that is irrelevant to what you are currently working on then mark it as unrelated and the slide out will disappear.
Unlinking ideas
If you need to unlink ideas at any given time, go to the Linked ideas tab within the ideas canvas and select the ideas you wish to unlink.
Click on the Unlink button on the menu.
