Use our Salesforce integration to import Objects from Salesforce into ProdPad as Feedback. Once the integration is activated, it will run every 15 minutes from the hour (for example 1 PM, 1:15 PM, 1:30 PM, etc). When the integration detects new Objects created in Salesforce that match the integration mapping, they will be automatically imported into ProdPad as Feedback. You can also use the Import from Salesforce feature (read more about this here), which will import previously created Objects that match the integration mapping into ProdPad as Feedback. This help article is also available as a video tutorial here.
Setting up the Salesforce integration is easy, and can done by following the below steps:
Setting up and using the Salesforce integration:
Creating the integration
Click on Settings followed by Integrations from the bottom left-hand side of the navigation bar.
Next, click the Create new integration button to open the integration slide-out menu. From here, click Customer Insight & Collaboration and select Salesforce from the drop-down list.
Give your integration a name and click Connect to move onto the next step.
Click Allow on the Allow Access window to connect your Salesforce account to the ProdPad integration. If you're asked to log into your Salesforce account here, login as normal and click Allow to grant access to the integration.
Important!
As we proceed through the article from this point, the steps provided serve as an example setup for the Salesforce integration. Please note that setup specifics depend on your Salesforce configuration. Should you need any support setting up the integration, reach out to our support team who will be more than happy to help!
Next, set up the mapping for the integration. To start with, choose the data objects from Salesforce that you want to bring into ProdPad as Feedback, Contact, and Company. In the below example, I have selected the following:
ProdPad | Salesforce |
---|---|
Feedback | Case |
Contact | Contact |
Company | Account |
The below screenshot is how this selection will look when entered into the mapping options. When you're ready to move on to the next step, click the Next button.
We can now select the data we want to pull into ProdPad from Salesforce as Feedback. The Salesforce Object for Feedback will be pre-selected from the Object Mapping step, which in this example is Case. The Salesforce Object ID field is the individual object that is used to identify the individual record, which in the below screenshot example is the Case ID.
You also have the option to Filter Records if required. To do this, enable the Filter Records toggle button by clicking it and select the field to filter followed by the value. In the below example, I have filtered by the Case Reason field and entered Feedback into the value field. This will allow the integration to filter the Case in Salesforce by the Case Reason field and filter by the Feedback value. In Step 2, map the Salesforce field you want to bring into ProdPad as Feedback and click Next to move on to the next step.
Top Tip
Only Companies and Contacts linked to an Object will be imported as Feedback. If a Contact or Company is not mapped to a Feedback Object, then the Contact or Company will not be imported.
We can now map the Contact fields between Salesforce and ProdPad. You'll see that the Salesforce object is pre-selected from the Object Mapping step. Choose the Salesforce Object and Object ID field, which in this example is Contact ID. You can then map the Salesforce fields to ProdPad (this is the data that will populate the Name and Email fields in your ProdPad account from the imported Salesforce contact). When you're ready to move into the next step, click Next.
Lastly, we have the option to import Companies from Salesforce to ProdPad. This can be done by enabling the Sync Companies option. If you choose not to enable this option, Companies will not be imported from Salesforce into ProdPad via the integration.
If you do choose to enable this option, you'll notice that the Salesforce object for Companies has been pre-selected from the Object mapping step. Choose the Salesforce Object ID field (which in the below example is Account ID) and map the Salesforce fields that you'd like to bring into ProdPad as the Company Name and the Company Value. It should be noted that, currently, mapping to picklists in Salesforce is not supported. Should you run into any issues during the Company mapping step of the integration setup, just reach out to our support team.
You now have the option to Start import and activate which will begin to import Objects from Salesforce into ProdPad, or to Activate the integration. If you select the Start import and active option, the integration will import current Objects from Salesforce into ProdPad that match the integration mapping as well as new Objects that are created in the future. If you select the Activate option, the integration will only import new Objects from Salesforce that match the integration mapping that are created in the future.
Using the Salesforce integration
Now that you've got your integration set up, you can begin importing Salesforce Objects into ProdPad as Feedback.
Once the integration is active, it will run once every 15 minutes from the hour (for example 1 PM, 1:15 PM, 1:30 PM, etc). When the integration detects new Objects in Salesforce that match the integration mapping options, it will import those Objects into ProdPad as Feedback. You can also choose to import any current Objects from Salesforce into ProdPad that match the integration mapping by selecting the Import option from the top right-hand side of the Feedback menu.
You’ll next have the option to select the Salesforce integration you’d like to use for the import. A mapping confirmation screen will appear once you select the integration you'd like to use. This screen allows you to check that your mapping is correct before you import the Salesforce Objects into ProdPad as Feedback. When you’re happy with how your mapping options look, click the Start Import button to begin the import process.
When the import has finished, you will receive an email confirmation message with a link to take you directly to the imported Feedback.
Once the Objects have been imported into Prodpad as Feedback, they will be displayed in the Inbox list. When opened, you will see that the Feedback title, description, contact, company, and email fields have been populated. The Feedback Channel will also be displayed as Salesforce.
You can view the newly created Contacts by navigating to Feedback and clicking on the Contacts tab, or by clicking into the Contact directly from within the Feedback. You will see that the Contact name and email have been populated, and the Company has been added to the contact.
Lastly, if you chose to sync Companies from Salesforce to ProdPad in the Company mapping step, you can view the Companies by navigating to Feedback and clicking on the Companies tab or by clicking into the Company directly from within the Contact. From here, you will see that the Company Name field has been populated along with the Company Value.
