Product objectives are relevant to the product you are looking at and help create context and alignment within a single product. You have the option of adding key results to objectives, to help track the metrics relevant to your goal. You can also add portfolio-level objectives that apply to all products in your account.

Add product objectives

Product objectives are accessible from the Objectives and Key Results tab within any product. Here you will find the ability to switch between product-specific and portfolio objectives.

To add a new objective, click on the Add Product Objective button. This will prompt a slide out which will allow you to give the objective a name, select a color, and write a short description to ensure that it's clear to everyone in your team what the objective is about.

Clicking on the objective name once created will trigger this slide out as well, where you can edit the objective as needed.

You can also add a new objective from the roadmap card view. 

To do so, click on the roadmap card to prompt the slideout, then click on the objective field to see your objective list.

Click on  Create new objective. Here you can choose your objective title and select the label color, as well as the objective type (Portfolio or Product.)

If you need to edit the objective, just hover over it and you'll see the Edit button. 

Change product objective views

There are three view options for objectives that display different levels of information. You can change the the view using the View options drop down

Collapsed - this displays the objective title, and any associated key results

Expanded - this is the default view. This shows the objective title, objective description and any associated key results. 

Detailed - this view displays the objective title, description, any associated key results and any contributing roadmap initiatives. This view displays a link to contributing roadmap initiatives, along with the details of the product, and which column the initiative is in. 

Publish Product Objectives

To share product objectives - click on the drop-down menu, and select 'Publish Product Objectives' to create a pdf view. 

Archive Product Objectives

Product Objectives can be archived from one of two places:

  • From within any of the objectives tab 
  • From within a roadmap card

To archive an objective from the objectives tab, click on the objective and locate the ellipsis at the top right. Here you will find a contextual menu that will allow you to further manage the objective, including the option to archive it.

To archive an objective from a roadmap card, click on the objective dropdown and hover over the portfolio icon to trigger the 'Edit' option. Once there, click on the available ellipsis and select the option to archive.

All archived objectives are visible on the product objectives tab by clicking on the ellipsis and selecting 'Show Archived.'

Delete Product Objectives

Product Objectives can be deleted from one of two places:

  • From within any of the objectives tab 
  • From within a roadmap card

Important!

Once deleted, an objective cannot be recovered.
