Adding a Target Date to Your Initiatives

The Target Date field allows you to specify an expected completion date for your Initiatives, providing better stakeholder alignment during product planning and forecasting. This feature enables product managers, team members, and stakeholders to stay aligned on progress and plan more effectively.

How to Add a Target Date

To add a Target Date to an existing Initiative, go to the Roadmap page and click on a Product followed by an Initiative. You'll then see a Target outcomes menu, which allows you to add a Target Date to the Initiative.

Click the Add button next to “Target Date” to set a target date for the Initiative. You can select a specific date, a target month, or a target quarter depending on your preference. If a date isn’t required, the field will display “Not set” by default.

To change the date, click  Edit and select a new date. You can also click Clear to reset the field back to Not set

Viewing and Displaying Target Dates

The Target Date appears as a badge on each Initiative, displayed at the beginning of the Tags line.

The Target Date badge is also visible in the Expanded and Detailed views and hidden in the Collapsed view.

You can also customize your view by toggling the Target Date badge on or off in the Display Options under View Settings.

Configure Target Date in Account Settings

You can configure the Target Date in Account Settings by toggling it on or off to enable or disable it on the Initiative Canvas. To do this, Go  to Settings Configuration and locate the Target Dates section.

Using Target Dates can make planning a breeze, helping you communicate clear timeframes to your team and stakeholders. With Target Dates, you can easily track Initiative progress and timelines across different views on your roadmap, ensuring everyone stays aligned. And as plans change, updating or clearing Target Dates keeps everyone informed and up-to-date. By making use of the Target Date field, you’ll enhance both forecasting and communication for your ongoing initiatives. Happy planning!
